XML Schema

XML is a language developed to support data communications. It consists of tags that encapsulate pieces of data hierarchically. Script 6 shows a sample. Here are some things to observe in Script 6:

Tags always appear in pairs. For example, <product> begins the script, and </product> ends it.

A tag can contain a string of characters (as in <number> and <size>, or it can contain a complex set of statements (as in <product>).

Sometimes a tag can have an “attribute” (as in effDate=“2001-04-02”).
